IQ Test

Disappointed by the quick IQ test I did on blogthings yesterday (I like to think of myself as pretty intelligent, seeing as I can't read music and my short legs give me a distinct disadvantage in sporting ventures.), I decided to take another IQ test to make myself feel a bit better. I came out with a score of 137 - not quite a genius, but satisfying to know I am not a total loss.

More blogthings - self discovery is so addictive... as my sister will tell you!

You Have A Type A- Personality

You are one of the most balanced people around
Motivated and focused, you are good at getting what you want
You rule at success, but success doesn't rule you.

When it's playtime, you really know how to kick back
Whether it's hanging out with friends or doing something you love!
You live life to the fullest - encorporating the best of both worlds
Do You Have a Type A Personality?

Pretty true this one... although sometimes the balance gets tipped a little too far in one direction and doesn't want to go back.

You Are 37% Vain

Okay, so you're slightly vain from time to time, but you're not superficial at all.
You are realistic. You know that looks matter. You just try to make them matter less.
How Vain Are You?

I save so much money by not wearing make-up!!

You Are 24 Years Old

20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.

What Age Do You Act?

Sounds about right, my brain stopped developing when I joined my current company. Jeez, it's been so long already?!

People Envy Your Ingenuity

You're a person with unique ideas, big plans, and a zany outlook on life. Many people look to you for inspiration.
People envy your creativity and "who cares?" attitude. They feel very ordinary next to you - and they usually are!

You Are Jean Grey

Although your fate is often unknown, you always seem to survive (even after death).
Your mind is your greatest weapon, literally!

Powers: telepathy and telekinesis, the ability to project thoughts into the mind of others, communication with animals
Which of the X-Men Are You?

Doing this quiz thing reminded me that I hadn't blogged about the two movies I went to see as part of my 'bank holiday weekend cinema bonanza'. Okay, so I went to see two films, but considering I haven't been to the cinema since "The Incredibles", it wasn't bad going.

As everyone had already seen 'The DaVinci Code' by the time I got round to it and I didn't really fancy going to Nando's for dinner, I decided to be billy-no-mates and go and watch DVC on my own on Sunday. I wasn't expecting much after mixed reviews from critics and friends alike, but I went in with an open mind just to see for myself. When I read the book, Robert Langdon for me could not have been more different from Tom Hanks, so when I heard he had been cast, I was against it from the start. I wasn't wrong as his totally dorky and wooden performance really spoilt the show. For me, I'd have preferred someone a bit rougher around the edges to play that part - say George Clooney or Christian Bale or someone like that. (My friend said a young Harrison Ford would have been ideal...) There were a couple of snooze parts in the film, but I thought it was passable. Audrey Tautou was fab and so were the others such as Paul Bettany (Silas), but I wasn't sure about the blue eyes though - just looked a bit weird for an albino, whose eyes are usually pink I thought. Ian McKellan's performance wasn't great, not as good as LOTR or X-men anyway. Or maybe he is just too overused recently.

'X-men: The Last Stand' lived up to its expectations. I really enjoyed the first two films, so I was looking forward to seeing number three. Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian were solid as usual and I enjoyed the effects. Won't ramble on too much, but I loved 'Angel' and his pretty wings - so fluffy and handy for getting around! Hehehe....

Three months of long hard slog before I go on my holidays again - I think I am gonna need this break. Roll on August...

In the meantime, more self-discovery to try and keep my brain slightly occupied. Bloomin' hormonal insomnia...

Shitty Hormones...

This is what a shitty hormone looks like - don't be fooled by it's pretty appearance....

For 25 days of each month, I am like most other women - mild mannered, patient, tolerant (ahem)... but with recent developments, then the usual 5 days of shitty hormones has just been heightened to an extremity and I am seriously turning schizophrenic. Take today for example. After two days of not getting up to much and feeling rather positive about getting some good rest, I went to work knowing it would be a pretty gruelling day as I need to cram five days work into two before I go on training and then spend 2 days doing my 'other job'. I was fine, laughing and keeping myself busy and chatty, to the point where my boss was getting worried about me being 'too merry', but come 5:59 pm when I am about to leave the office, I am approached by an ops manager who has no concept of my need to GO HOME. He then spends the next ten minutes telling me he needs a report by tomorrow and forcing me to give him a delivery timescale on it. When I say I am busy, he tells me that I have to get someone on my team to do it for him. That totally wound me up and I left work at 6:15 in a really foul mood. It didn't help when I was kindly notified by my husband that my desktop PC had died and refused to boot up. Then when I stabbed myself with a fishbone on my tongue during dinner and then the internet doing stupid things when I tried to check my emails, I just got more and more severely peed off and my shittyhormones just decided to make things about 10000 times worse and I ended up sitting in bed wrapped in my duvet feeling melancholic as I did the news updates for the day. The SH also give me hot and cold flushes, so one minute I am sweating like a pig, the next I have a cold doggy nose. Fortunately, my hubby gives good hugs...

TVBspace is back!

Don't know if it's just my medication, but something seems to have hit a creative nerve this weekend and as well as making numerous posts on Tripadvisor forums and spcnet, I have also managed to write another three chapters in my long abandoned fanfic over at spcnet and revived my news site over at TVBspace and done a couple of days worth of updates. Surprisingly, after a hiatus of six months, I still seem to be able to do it without thinking much and still on my old times of around 20 minutes per article.

It just shows what two years of conditioning can do to you. I guess it's like when I learned to touch type - just kinda happened (with a little help from watching Voyager whilst chatting on MSN) and now I can watch TV and type at the same time. This drives the guys at work nuts when I can be talking to them and typing at the same time because they think I am just pretending, until they come over and check and see what I have managed to do. At least if this job doesn't work out, I can still get a job in a typing pool!

Life has been hectic as usual since getting back from Hong Kong, with my boss doing a disappearing act for most of the time and me being left to hold the fort. Got a bit annoyed by this last week and even thought about leaving, but have changed my mind now that my mood is better and my boss is back. I really need to stop thinking too hard about work and reduce my commitment a little to stop me burning out. That's why I think re-starting the site is a good thing, at least I can retire to my little TVB fantasy world every night and not have to go to sleep thinking about what's gonna be waiting in my inbox the following morning.

Talking of sleep, I think it's time to go and pay a visit to Master Chow...
